New Tunes & Live Music in Singapore

I Am Giant

I’ve been absent from this blog again lately due to work and life commitments but I thought I would post a quick blog today about some of the new music that i’ve been listening to. It’s been a pretty good few months here in Singapore with some high class bands playing live music around the city state. Last year we got to see Hatebreed & Lamb of God in really small venues, as well as an arena show for Muse and Rise Against.

Time flies

Bronze City

Shit, the last time I found any time to update was over 2 months ago, time has sure flown by since then. Trizon is still going ahead but all the workers have now been moved offsite and get transported in and out of the site every day by busses, no more accidents so far.

Trizon Condo on Fire

Yesterday afternoon (Friday 11th of June) around 3:45pm a fire broke out at the construction site across from my home office, which is in Ridgewood Condominium, off Holland Rd, in Ulu Pandan, Singapore. The fire broke out at the construction site for a new condominium, Trizon, to be completed in 2013.

Updates from February & March

This update has been a long time coming, I’ve got about 4 draft posts sitting in the administration panel but have not found the time over the last couple of months to do any updates here, it’s been a little bit frustrating, and with so much going on i’ve not known where to start. So here goes!

We started off themonth of February in style with a Valentines Day Massacre at Senso in Club St. I don’t have much to say about it, except that there was free flow Prosecco and it was indeed a massacre in every sense of the word, I think I was fast asleep in bed around 4pm … Not quite the romantic Valentines Day Anita was hoping for…

For our birthday weekend (well, the weekend between our birthdays), we had combined shindig down by the Singapore River at one of our favourite eating and drinking establishments, Brewerkz. It was a pretty good day, getting everyone together for some bevvies and a feed down by the river, finished up at home nursing an afternoon hangover is always a good sign that the lunch went well! I took some pics on the camera and have uploaded them into a slideshow below.

Birthdays at Brewerkz

For Anita’s birthday we ventured down near the Raffles Hotel to a little Australian place called Double Bay, known for its Fish ‘n’ Chips. We sat outside as it was bloody freezing inside, and had a wonderful night. Neetles also got a little spoilt with her favourite birthday cake and lots of presents.

Anita’s Birthday

We also had Dad’s birthday in late March, but unfortunately a recent reformat of my Mac lost the pics we had, so you will just have to imagine that we had a good time, there was food, and drinks at Chijimes, and lots of buffalo wings! Strangely enough the night ended jumping into a taxi with the driver having worked for my old man quite a few years back, so that all ended with a free taxi ride home. Small world!

Other than those events I can’t really say that Anita and I have been up to anything extremely fascinating. I’ve been trying to take a photo a week still, and am really lacking, hopefully I can make some up in the next few weeks. I did however buy a new lens so that’s inspired me a little, and we have a few opportunities coming up soon where I will be able to take a decent amount of photos. Anita was promoted at work from the Jr. School Receptionist before her probation finished, so now she’s as busy as she’s been in a long time working as the Australian International School Singapore’s main receptionist. She’s loving it though, so that’s worked out well.

In between all this Dad and I managed a trip to the Hong Kong 7′s Rugby Union tournament in March and had a really awesome time, the rugby was great, it was the first time that i’d been to HK and to get the time to hang out with Dad was really great too. There was lots of drinking, a fair bit of rugby and it was a great weekend overall, however I needed a bit of a break from the beer since and it set my gym/weight loss programme back a little bit too, however, it was all worth it and I hope to bring Neetles along next year.

We’ve been seriously getting stuck into the wedding details and should have something locked won in the next couple of weeks to share with everyone, so that’s been pretty stressful and exciting, although it’s not till next year, there are a load of things you need to organise and it’s just dawned on us that currency exchange and being away from Australia have played a bit of a negative role, but that aside we have some wonderful venues to choose from and I can’t wait till we can get invites and a final date and venue sorted out.

For now, that’s probably all I can remember, think of. Anita and I are off to Phuket and Phi Phi island for a short trip this weekend, so I will be sure to take plenty of pics and have an update or two for next week.

Hope y’all are well
